Host kitchens across B.C. are buzzing as two talented young chefs use their facilities to fine tune their skills in a final push to prepare for the prestigious National and International Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Jeunes Chefs Competitions.
On April 28th, seven young professional chefs and four student chefs representing Chaînes des Rôtisseurs member establishments in Vancouver and Victoria came together to compete at the 2018 Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs competition. The annual competition, held at Vancouver Community College, saw our chefs participate in a classic “black box” competition, where each chef was required to create, cook and present a custom menu (appetizer, main course and dessert incorporating a pre-set assemblage of fresh ingredients) within a prescribed time limit. Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar’s culinary brigade, under the visionary leadership of Executive Chef Alex Chen, added yet another accolade to its already impressive resume this past weekend when Chef de Partie Nathan Sundeen was awarded the silver medal at Canada’s 2017 Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Jeunes Chefs National culinary competition finals in Ottawa.
