Born and raised in Ontario, Mike Reid embraced a new adventure when he relocated to British Columbia to explore the vibrant hospitality scene of Vancouver. It was at the age of 26 that he began his culinary journey, a path he quickly realized was more than just a job—it was the start of a fulfilling career. From his first day in the kitchen, Mike knew that cooking would be a lifelong pursuit, driven by an insatiable desire to learn and create.

Mike’s love for cooking started in his youth when he frequently prepared meals for himself, nurturing his passion for gastronomy before it became his profession. This foundational experience has greatly influenced his understanding of flavor, creativity, and the art of cooking. One of the aspects that keep him motivated in the industry is the endless opportunity for discovery and innovation.

At the heart of Mike's work is his appreciation for the diversity of coworkers and guests in the hospitality industry. He believes that the unique blend of backgrounds and cultures enriches the culinary experience, making every service memorable.

As the Executive Chef at the iconic Hotel Vancouver, Mike is proud to return to the establishment that launched his hotel career 12 years ago. He views the Hotel Vancouver as a distinctive gem in the city’s hospitality landscape, unmatched in its charm and legacy.

In his free time, Mike enjoys golfing, traveling, gardening, and, of course, cooking. He attributes his growth in the culinary field to the countless inspirational individuals he has worked alongside, each leaving an indelible mark on his career path.

With a passion for culinary excellence and a dedication to continuous learning, Mike Reid remains committed to crafting unforgettable dining experiences in one of Vancouver's most cherished hotels.
