Chef Bruno Marti Inducted Into The Order of Canada

It is with great pleasure that we share the news that Chef Bruno Marti has been inducted into the Order of Canada.

In an announcement issued from the office of the Governor General of Canada today, Chef Marti was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada – one of our country’s highest honours bestowed on individuals who have rendered distinguished service in their chosen field.

This prestigious honour recognizes Chef Marti’s contributions as a world-class chef andculinary leader who has consistently championed and advanced the culinary arts not only in BC and Canada, but worldwide.
‍

In its description of Chef Marti the Governor General’s office noted, “the retired owner of La Belle Auberge, an award-winning restaurant in Ladner, British Columbia, he is lauded for his leadership in gastronomy on the world stage. He has mentored Canadian chefs for over four decades, and has coached and led teams in international competitions, including the Culinary Olympics.”

A longtime professional member of the Vancouver Bailliage of the Confrèrie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Grand Officier Maître Rôtisseur Chef Marti has contributed tirelessly of his time, energy and expertise to encouraging and supporting excellence in cuisine within the Chaîne, and to the development of young chefs through the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs cooking competitions.

Chef Marti’s longtime friend, collaborator and fellow Chaîne member Dr. Jane Ruddick writes, “congratulations to the Godfather of Canadian Cuisine.
