We are thrilled to invite you to a unique wine education experience hosted by The Chaine Vancouver in partnership with the globally renowned Wine Spirit Education Trust (WSET).

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is an intermediate course designed for wine enthusiasts and professionals eager to deepen their understanding of viticulture, winemaking, and the world’s most important wine regions. This program will explore the styles and qualities of wines made from key grape varieties across global regions, while also providing foundational skills for pairing wine with food.

Tailored specifically for Chaine members, this course combines theory with guided wine tastings and food pairing, led by our expert presenter, Tim Ellison, a highly qualified Chaine Professional Member.

What we will learn:

1. wines made from the principal grape varieties and how they are influenced by environmental factors, grape-growing options in the vineyard, winemaking techniques, and maturation options
2. the style and quality of wines (including key labeling terms) produced from twenty-two regionally important grape varieties grown in over seventy geographical areas around the world
3. sparkling and fortified wines and how grape varieties and production processes can influence the styles
4. to taste, describe, and evaluate wine using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®
5. the key principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine, and in the pairing of food and wine
