Come celebrate the arrival of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival with a delightful exploration of Chinese culture and cuisine with our own local historian and celebrated culinarian Judy Lam Maxwell. On Saturday, September 17, please join us for a delightful guided tour through some of the Chinatown neighbourhood’s most historic sites, then learn how to prepare, cook and ultimately enjoy traditional Chinese dumplings nicely accompanied by a lovely Chardonnay.
During this fun, multi-dimensional event, Judy, one of the city’s most knowledgeable authorities on the history of Chinatown, will share some of the highlights of this fascinating district…one of the oldest such communities outside China. After exploring local highlights, Judy will take us on another journey, this time through the history of one of China’s most iconic foods, the traditional dumpling. During our fun, hands-on cooking class, Judy will discuss traditional Cantonese ingredients, where to find them, and how to make your own dumplings. This will be crowned by the best part yet…we get to enjoy the dumplings! Judy says that “by the end of the 3-hour tour and class, you’ll be an expert dumpling maker.” See you there!
